What is MUN?

cropped-IMG_0825-1.jpgOver 100,000 students in K-12 and University programs throughout the world participate in Model United Nations. In MUN, students take on the role of foreign ambassadors presenting their assigned nations’ views at simulated UN conferences. Conferences are held locally, nationally, and internationally.

Preparing for Competition

Students prepare for competition by researching their country’s view point on world issues, writing college level research papers, and honing presentation skills with their team. Coaches mentor students as they prepare for competition.

The Conference Competition

Taking on the role of international diplomats, students debate the issues they have researched during practices. Through speeches, comments, and lobbying, students negotiate, compose, and ratify resolutions. Individual and team awards are presented at the conclusion of the conference.

Education

Through MUN students learn life long skills in:

  • leadership and communication
  • public speaking and presentation
  • research and writing
  • diplomacy and negotiation
  • global awareness
